Hello Everyone.

This is my first post here and as it usually happenes I got here
because I was googling something I need.

I am an advanced user far from been an expert with very limited
experience in 2003.

However I am determined to manage my self to set it up so I can
remotely access to manage the quick books database from outside the
office as I used to have this service from someone else, paid a lot of
money and ended up having tons of problems anyway so I rather go through
the hassle of learning with as much help I can get from the web and any
recommendation I can follow from guys who know more than I do.

I have a PC (CEL 1.2GHz 256Mb 30Gb with a Windows 2003 Server
Enterprise edition) ready to use it as a guinea pig and when I go
through I update into a higher peformance hardware.

Basically what I want is to access the server with Remote Desktop
Connection so we can manage our company's finances from any pc with the
RDC client installed. Preferably I would like to be able to have more
than one user at the same time.

Any help regarding where should I begin, if there is any material, or
guide that I should read or follow will be highly appreciated.

THANKS

hello,

on the server, you must allow RDP remote connection.
On the computer icon, right click, then remote tab. Check the box to allow
remote connection.

Then you will have to open access from outside (VPN, port nat on the
router/firewall)

When on others pc, do not forget to close the RDP connection when
finished...either you will open a door to your business !!

No. Would-be hackers face the same barriers, regardless
of whether an RDP session is left open or closed. In the
scenario you describe, they would have to break into the
VPN and they would have to guess the account name &
password.

I mean leaving the computer with the rdp session fully opened...

I know that seems stupid but when you are on a hurry...then it's too late!

Also you should never make the system store the password, it's obvious to
get on RDP 5.0 and not so hard on RDP 6.0 (i think it's possible with cain
since it's in the keys store)
