Remote Access & Screen Saver

I support a Customer Service group that rotates a laptop for after hours
support. They use the laptop to connect to their office PC from home. Both
the laptop and office PC's are XP Pro. We have been using a third party
product for the connection, but I've recently been moving users to Remote
Access.
I have one user who uses a screen saver with password protection on the
office PC. During the day at the office when the screen saver kicks in, he
presses ctrl/alt/del and enters his password and presses Enter. It takes 3-4
minutes for his PC to display his desktop. During that time, all he sees is a
blue screen.
I have another user who does something similar, but after she presses
ctrl/alt/del, the screen has black bars all across the screen. She cycles
power on her monitor and the problem goes away.
Any ideas on what is causing these situations? The PC with the 3-4 minute
lag concerns me - I don't want to deploy this to the rest of the group if
there is a potential for others to have the same problem.
Thanks in advance,
Jan
