Reinstalling Win XP Home

I need to know if I can reinstall Windows XP Home without losing the activation. It program has not been registered yet, but I was in the process of doing updates to Win XP Home SP2 when the computer started dumping physical memory. The XP Home is a full install just purchased and I just need to know if I will have complications reactivating online or if I will have to call microsoft, which I really do not want to do.
