Hi I'm not recommending this, but this is the way I keep my registry cleaned up. I uninstalled Tweaking.com Windows All in One with REVO. Not a lot left behind unless you're a clean freak like me. I used RegSeeker to search for the left overs. 15+ were found and I was able to clean them from my registry. No big deal, but to me it does matter. If I can clean up the left behinds, why not do it! I have used RegSeeker for years for this. This is the main thing I use this software for. RegegSeeker has been around for ever. I'm not recommending this, so don't start preaching to me, because I don't believe in registry cleaners either. In the right hands, they can be a asset.
I also use Search Everything to find left behind files and delete them.
PS Why did I go to all this effort?? Because I want a clean install of that software and not a blotched install!!
Got to do some thing to get some action here on the forum!!Capture994.JPG

We don't encourage Registry Cleaners of any sort.
Too many things can go wrong for the newby.
Besides the sizes of Hard Drives now, it is not necessary.
Was in the days of very small Hard Drives.
" Everything" is all one needs.

Capture993.JPG Hi gang! How hard can it be to develop a new software that could find all the entries that a software put in the registry??
Surely we have some software people here on our forum that could do that. I use RegSeeker. I can 't be sure it finds all the entries, but it finds a bunch of them. When ever I uninstall a program I let RegSeeker find left overs. A search with RegSeeker found these entries with a working Google Chrome. I would use REVO uninstaller and then search with RegSeeker to find left over entries if I ever wanted to uninstall Chrome. That's the way I do It!!
You have a comment?? Please post! I'm always ready to learn!

Hi I believe these are all the registry entries for REVO uninstaller! I can't prove that!Capture992.JPG

I'm trying very hard to make a hand here on Free PC Help Forum. here are the entries that Poker Stars has put in my registry. A total of 37 according to RegSeeker!!
I'm just trying to make my point.
REVO will miss some of these if you decide to uninstall this program.;);)

Seriously Mates, how hard would it be to develop a software program that would find all the entries a software program puts in your registry when you install it
Has RegSeeker accomplished this?? I don't know Mates?? Give me your feed back!
REVO hasn't done it yet. At least the free version hasn't! Does the paid version do that???

Dougie is right in that we seldom use even 20% of these bigger hard drives and someone explained to me years ago the more on the big drive the faster it moves. It's the downhill rolling a rock vs a boulder theory in that once the big drive gets moving it has the momentum to move faster the more that is on the drive.

I know you are not saying to run reg cleaners "willy nilly" thorugh your system but I share Dougie's concerns that we not accidentally pollute a newbies system by suggesting such things. The best way to do what you suggest was really in your suggestion which was use of Revo though I recently learned it is not full featured on a 64 bit system so as Dougie suggested "Wise Uninstaller" is and does the same things quite nicely. I have never seen a system warped out using one of these but I have seen that using reg cleaners for anything, though I am sure donateo himself will be just fine using same the way he states.

Hi @Rich-M I guess I clean my registry because I can, and I just like knowing that I removed all traces of a program I uninstalled. I'm sure that there isn't a need any more with the new larger drives. Every thing I read says registry cleaners do more harm than good. I have used regedit a couple of times to remove left over entries before I could reinstall a program. This thread is for our members and not for anyone that's not familiar with the registry.
If you don't know what your doing, stay out of the registry
I do wish some one would develop a software program that would search for all the entries a program installs in the registry. Why would that be so hard to do. Why don't you create one Rich?;)
PS Regseeker does a good job of finding them and much faster than regedit and F3. It takes a lot of F3's some times to find the left overs!

The reason that it's not that easy is because of lazy writers/developers.
Basically Microsoft say that certain things should go in certain parts of the registry.
Lazy writers don't always follow these guidelines and proceed to stick entries where they feel they should go.
This causes allsorts of confusion for uninstall tools. ( basically because entries aren't always where they're meant to be )

Hi @starbuck The only part of RegSeeker I use is the search feature. If has never caused me any trouble. I think it does a good job of finding left behinds after a uninstall. Last time I let it scan my PC, it only found 300+ entries. Most of those come right back if you delete them, so why bother.
I do keep my registry clean however, but that's just me! Not for everyone!!

Thanks for your reply!!

You can use JV16 Power Tools for that, the very first screen shows every single registry entry for all programs installed and I used to use that to pull out "danglers" however these days I very seldom find anything that Revo and Wise Uninstaller don't remove and I use them almost exclusively now to uninstall programs.
