Regedit: error while deleting key

I'm trying to delete the registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\LPTENUM]

as per the recommendation in the KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298370/en-us.
However, when I try to delete it regedit returns: "error while
deleting key". How can a delete this key and try to solve the New
Hardware Found wizard from reappearing every time I boot?

I've tried deleting the printer and unplugging it and still can't
delete the key. If I go into Device Manager to try to delete the
driver, it isn't even there. That's right, no driver in Device
Manager. This problem is driving me crazy. If I could only delete that
key at least I think I would have a fighting chance. Please help!

Right-click on the key (as in the example) and choose "Permissions" instead.
Make sure you (or "Administrators") is listed in the "Group or Usernames"
section.
Make sure you (or "Administrators") have "Full" rights.
Make sure those permissions apply to all subfolders/entries below that one
(Advanced button, bottom checkbox.)

Try your delete again.

How To Ask Questions The Smart Way

Right Click the Key name, Take Permissions and add your username
then grant yourself full permissions. In some Registry key structures
you must delete from the most indented field first, moving upwards to
the home key name.

Key Name ( Final deletion )

-
- Delete this one first, then move upwards

Thank you both for your excellent advice. I was finally able to delete
the registry key. BUT the problem still occurs. The New Hardware
Wizard appears everytime I boot up. After the first boot, I tried
deleting the printer and reinstalling it. The printer works fine, but
no driver for it appears in Device Manager, and everytime I boot up
the New Hardware Wizard still appears.
