.REG files have to be in Unicode?

I noticed that if I export a registry key to a .REG file, it is in
Unicode format. If I create a .REG file by hand, does it have to be
in Unicode format to be imported correctly?

How did you export the registry key? If you want the normal ASCII reg file,
when the Export Registry File dialog pops up, change the "Save as type:" to
"Win9x/NT4 Registration Files".

BTW, the answer to your question is: No, the .reg file does not have to be
UNICODE to be imported correctly. See my previous post.
