What affects how quickly a recycle bin empties itself? I have two identical
computers (granted - each with somewhat different programs loaded) and one
empties its trash a lot faster than the other. What causes this and what can
I do to speed the one up?

How quickly it is filled.

Are the two recyle bins the same size.

You are supposed to empty recycle bins. I guess you do not believe in
doing this. Do you ever select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System
Tools, Disk CleanUp to Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary
Internet Files. Also select Start, All Programs, accessories, System
Tools, Disk CleanUp, More Options, System Restore and remove all but the
latest System Restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Hope this helps.

there are simply too
many variables involved.

as long as it empties
out, then there isn't
really a problem.

------------

however, to further
prove or disprove your
concerns, you would
have to perform a "control
test"

create identical folders
on each computer and
ensure they have the same
number of files.

then delete the folders
on each computer, ensuring
they are the only things in
each recycle bin.

then go into safemode
on each computer and
clear out your recycle
bins, timing them as
well.

Could be CPU speed.
Could be faster hard drive.
Could be Norton's Recycle Bin.
