recommends on backup: external hd+ web backup

I've started working a lot on my laptop (home, office, road) which has a 2GB
hd.

I'd like to have a mobile backup solution.

Does anyone have recommends on the following :

1. external hd

2. web backup service

I don't use a web backup service as I don't have anything important enough
to warrant off-site storage.

I use this external hard drive:

If your internal drive is only 2G wouldn't backing up to DVD (or even CD?)
be sufficient?

Oops, I meant 200 GB.

I think anything worth backing up is worth backing up offsite.

Maybe true but it's going to take a hell of a long time to upload 200 gigs!
 
I use an external (SATA or USB) HD to back my laptop up to.I bought an
external case and HD seperately
I actually used 2......the 1st HD was used to clone the laptop HD to and put
safely away
I then changed HD in the case and use the 2nd HD to back up my work...it
goes on the road with me.
I have never really trusted web based backup services...

I backup to, amongst other things, an external drive, and nightlty to
IBackup (just data)
