I have been googling this forever, so I'm ressurrecting this thread as
to not create a new one. My computer, apart from when I first bought it
about three years ago has never been able to save things into cds
somehow. I tried doing what every help website says, put the cd in the
area where it says "Compact Disc Rewritable", put my files in the D:/
area, and when I click save files to cd, it says there's no cd in the
unit. The cd isn't bad, I've saved things on others exactly like it in
another computer. I think something in the drive isn't activated. Can
anyone help? Thanks in advance.

OK, I may be wasting you time, but I suggest looking at the place where the
temp files are written during the save for the burner. Perhaps just clearing
out this area would let the burn take place.

Rightclick burner icon in Explorer/Properties/Recording tab.

And also on the recording tab be sure 'Enable CD recording on this drive' is
checked.

Check the 'permissions'

Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider On
the Edit menu, click Permissions . Click the registry key for the user that
is currently logged on and ensure that Read and Full Control are both set to
Allow . Click the Advanced button, ensure that the user that is currently
logged on is selected, that Full Control is listed in the Permissions
column, and that This Key and Subkeys is listed in the Apply to column.
Click to select the Replace permission entries on all child objects with
entries shown here that apply to child objects check box. Click Apply , and
then click Yes when you receive a prompt to continue. Click OK , and then
click OK again

Okay, so I did that and when I hit apply, to remove the "inherit from
father objects.." and change to "Replace permission entries on all
child objects with
entries shown here that apply to child objects", it said access denied
and then all the users were erased from the advanced tab!

How do I go about to restoring the system to a previous date where
everything ran normally? I forgot how to do that. Thanks for your help,
though.
