I am trying to use the photoscreensaver.scr for the
HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Desktop\SCREENSAVE.EXE key so I can
display pictures while no user is logged on to the system but I am
getting the following error when it tries to run:

-An error is preventing the Slide Show from playing-

I have been using the ssmypics.scr screensaver on my Windows XP systems
for years in order to accomplish this same behavior while no one is
logged on to the computer and have never had a problem.

Found the Fix!!!

TROUBLESHOOTING
===================

1. Searched procmon.log to confirm if the FolderPath key (which
determines the location of the pictures) was being read. The log showed
that the key that was being searched was:

"HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-19\Software\Microsoft\Windows Photo
Gallery\Slideshow\Screensaver"

instead of:

"HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows Photo
Gallery\Slideshow\Screensaver"

2. Added the "Windows Photo Gallery" registry keys to the Local Service
account
(S-1-5-19) and the screensaver started to work

Hope this helps!
