Her might not be.. it took me many hours to install gentoo.
I suppose I shouldn't have chosen the option to build everything.

Then I had to do it again.. the instructions were fine and told you how to
install a disk driver for the controller I had.
It didn't make it clear you had to manually add that controller to the
kernel built before you attempted to reboot at the end.
Still it was an interesting learning exercise.

Likely, but not necessarily. IIRC, Sabayon is a Gentoo derivative,
meaning they likely have the option to install bundled binaries or build
from sources if they chose the latter, 27 hours isn't unreasonable.
