Been using it since Slackware days, 0.97p1 or so. Download from a BBS and
make floppies for the install. Been running one version or another ever
since. Which reminds me, Fedora 9 is out, and all the mirrors were plugged
yesterday and the day before. Time to try again, no extra charge either. It
is so popular even the 1GB links are plugged solid.

But then, I have been UNIX literate for over 22 years. Unlike MS-Win
fanboys I could put more in my brain than MS-FUD. Linux/UNIX is more secure
and more stable. Part of the reason windows does not own the server market.
It just isn't stable and robust enough for some applications.

One observation, Linux has always been technically superior to MS-Windows.
But it just didn't come with a marketing machine and lobster dinners with
the CIO. Linux now has a better and more capable than Vista interface
(Compiz) and is much faster, people should try it. Linux often had the same
technologies that MS-Windows uses, LDAP, Kerberos and even native TCP come
to mind. Which of course Microsoft borrowed and bastardized. My current
recommended distros are Ubuntu and Fedora.

You should see Compiz work, amazing. Windows done right. MS-Windows for
boyz, X-Windows for men.

Resistance is not futile. It is actually profitable.

BS - I have never known a single person to do that. The vast majority of
folks I'm aquainted with try Linux and stay there. A few give up and go
back to MS - unable to make the change but I've never known a single
person to go through the crap you're trying to make us believe is standard.

Windows 2008 Server RTM BFD, install Vista, play with your latex

I'd say that I've been a Linux user for about two hours over the last 12
years.
Install Linux, run it for 10 minutes, decide it ain't ready for prime time
yet.
Try again next year.

I keep hoping ... maybe some day ... but not today.

much because that is EXACTLY what happens. IF it was a good as you and the
other smacktards seem to think it is, then WHY are more people not using it?
IF it were as good as you say it is, **I** would still be using it on the
desktop. You REALLY need to get a grip, and quit with the FUD, and BS that
Linux is worth a damn on the desktop because it IS NOT. The only ones that
usually stay are the ones like Alias who do nothing but sit on their ass all
day playing Tetris, emailing mommy and daddy, and coming onto the newsgroups
whining and bitching how bad Vista is because they are too damn stupid to
set up an OS and make it function properly. Hell, YOU are even called out in

Actually you seem to be missing the point.

Yes an error was made, however, as the texts you quote state quite
clearly, what this really means is that someone "Might" be able to guess
at your encryption keys, not that they "Will" be able to.

If someone has claimed that Linux, or any other operating system, is
free from error and you believed them then I'm afraid you have missed
another point - which is that NOTHING is free from error.

In fact evolution depends on getting things wrong.

However for those of you who can only function in a point and click
environment Linux is becoming more and more suitable. It may lack some
of the polish that XP had achieved, but it costs nothing and works very
well for many things. At least it does not stop you from using your
computer when a Microsoft server crashes.

You may well be unable to see the reality, but MS is not without
competition, and that is just being realistic.
