No that won't work. Ubuntu is too solid. I run Ubuntu and I've never
seen that. The Linux Kernel won't let it happen.

You must have a special one then.

Why tell lies? There are problems with all SW. Linux is no
exception. People don't make up these issues you know.

I can baerly imagine why anyone would tell lies. Maybe for money? The
kind of money that Mrs. Gates little boy Billy makes? I'm not getting
any money from supporting Linux nor Ubuntu, and they're not getting any
money from me, at least they never have, they just make the software
and let me use it for free. Damn nice of them! I've tried Fedora and
a few others and I settled on Ubuntu because it just does what I need
safely and reliably. I never said it was perfect, but it's world's
ahead of Window$.

Because it's the Linux advocate way.

That's why some people call it LIE-nix.

I don't know. But you're not accusing those Linux users of lying I hope?
maybe their "needs" push the machine more than yours? e.g I was
complaining recently that Amarok crashed with a huge library. Rick told
me I was lying and that it met his "needs". A few posts later he
admitted to knowing nothing about playlist management in Amarok and that
he only had about 10 songs on it anyway... Go figure.

What does it do so much better than Fedora and a "few others". Please be
specific.

Good question, Quack. Why do you lie so shamelessly?

Of course no software is perfect but the nice thing about Linux is rarely
will a crash take down the whole system which can't be said for Windows.

Based on your statement, the last windows version you could have
possibly used was Windows ME. Applications on NT based systems, almost
never crash the entire system. Most crashes on Windows now are issues
with device drivers.

Additionally most desktop users are using GUI based apps and while the
Linux kernel rarely has a problem X quite frequently does have problems.
So when you have to ctrl-alt-bspace you have effectively killed the system
for the user.

My laptop and work desktop have XP on it because my company won't allow
me to use Linux based on the fact I can't install McAffee on it.

Of course XP is going to look better compared to ME. :P

But the fact is a crash is more likely to affect Windows as a whole than
a crash on Linux.

We had a programmer who made some mistake in an app and allocated all
available memory. It BSODed Windows, but Linux survived, though it was
in a very bad shape for a few minutes when everything was swapped
out. Then it killed the app with oom-killer and continued happily.
