RDP from Localized XP Pro

We have several computers that are running the English(US) version of XP by
default and we can remote into a 2003 Server and change to get the Japanese
kanji to work. However we cannot remote into the same server from a Japanese
localized XP Pro and get the Kanji to work. Is this an issue with the
Japanese version of XP or is there something on the server that needs to be
set?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Please note that this newsgroups are staffed to answer your non-urgent and
applications questions on English software/hardware.

For Japanese versions, the local support is the more effective resource for
problem resolution.

I cannot pull up the link you posted and the server in which we are
connecting to is a US version of Windows 2003 Server running Terminal
Services. We are trying to determine if the problem is related to the client
or the server itself.

Also since I don't read kanji a Japanese only newsgroup would produce no
results for me. I cannot believe that I'm the only "english" user that works
with multiple languages in todays global economy and since newsgroups are
designed to allow for peer support I posted in the group that would include
my peers.

As mentioned we are trying to determine if the problem is related to the
server with is the US English version (fits this newsgroup) or related to the
Japanese version of XP.

Hi,

Thanks for your response.

The purpose I suggest posting in a Japanese newsgroup is to solve this
issue more effectively. However, as you said, newsgroups allow peer
support. If you would like to work on it here to determine if this problem
is related to the client or TS at first, I am glad to provide my suggestion
as following and peers who have the similar experience may also share
valuable information with you.

I suppose the problem that you could not switch to Kanji input is this
input language hasn't been installed for the user logging on from Windows
XP Japanese client. So I suggest installing Kanji input language as
following steps and test the result, when you login Terminal server from
Windows XP Japanese client.

To add an alternative input language:
1. In Control Panel, click Regional and Language Options.
2. Click the Languages tab, and then under Text services and input
languages, click Details.
3. Under Installed services, click Add.
4. In the Input Language box, click the input language that you want to
add to enable users to input text in that language

To add an alternative keyboard layout/IME for an input language:
1. In Control Panel, click Regional and Language Options.
2. Click the Languages tab, and then under Text services and input
languages, click Details.
3. Under Installed services, click Add.
4. In the Keyboard layout/IME box, click the alternative keyboard layout
or IME that you want to add to enable users to input text in the specified
input
language

If this issue still exists, please post back with the latest symptom and
also post in the Japanese newsgroup for better assistance.

For your convenience, you can find Japanese newsgroup according to the
option published in the below link:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

Thanks.
