Problem with HP L2000 Laptop Gets Repeated BLUE SCREENS

I am Having a problem with a HP L2000 Laptop which Gets Repeated BLUE
SCREENS. I had to Repair XP Professional Service Pack 2 to get it
running the first time. My Friend bought it back in late 05 but never
used it. He recently Plugged in the A/C Adapter and charged up the
Battery but nothing else. I suspect a problem with the Memory. It only
had a Years Warrenty on it so that avenue is out.
I need a Bootable CD with some Diagnostics including a good Memory
Tester program.
Can Any one help
