Hi,
I'm running XP Professional with IE7.0. The web page I'm opening has a .php
extension. I should be able to open an audio clip file embedded within the
web pagebut but just shows the little red x inside it. I've looked through
and tried changing properties but have not been able to resolve the problem.

Can anyone help.

Cheers,

Chris

Determine the file extension of the clip, and determine the file association
your system uses to run that extension. If you have one, it is probably a
corrupted sound driver.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the quick response.

Is there an alternative method of determining the file extension of the
audio clip other than right clicking on it as this only gives the file
extension of the web page (.php).

Cheers,

Chris

Hi again Mark,

I've just updated the sound card driver but I'm still having the same
problem. I might be off track here but my MPEG audio files are associated
with iTunes or Real Player

If you have never looked at HTML code, the item may not be apparent to you.
(IE on page, View menu, "Source") It's probably going to be a line something
like:
source="<path>somefile.mpg" or whatever

Of course Mark cheers. It's a .swf file which I believe is a Shockwave flash
file. I downloaded this programme a while ago but have just redone and still
have the same problem.

I think you have found it, I would look at IE, tools menu, "Manage Add-Ons"
to see if you can enable, or perhaps repair the Flash add-on.
Another posibility would be some Security setting.
IE, tools, Options, Security tab, "Custom Level" button. (maybe some activeX
setting)

Cracked it Mark thanks very much. The Add On was disabled in IE. Can't say
I've had that problem before.

Thanks again.
