I have been unable to get the paperport printer to install correctly.

XP Pro SP2, as an upgrade. One group of attempts with paperport and the
printer in place and another with them removed prior to upgrade. The version
of paperport, 7.02.006 Deluxe and 7.02.02 Deluxe install OK except for the
paperport printer. Upgrading with paperport in place removed the printer.

But, if I chose one of my other printers, except the FAX, and look under
properties at advanced and the print processor button, I find the "paperport
print processor" listed, including Blicent on the right side of the pane.

These scanners are labeled for XP. But in my searches many others have found
the same issue and for some it did not occur until SP2 was installed.

Scansoft, now Nuance, dropped support at the release of SP2 and claim the
issue is because of added security measures in SP2.

Can anyone give me a prospect if that is the real reason and if I have
possibly overlooked an approach to getting the Paperport printer to install?

Hi Norman,

I have used PP for years and stopped at version 9. If you have the
install CD, try searching for a file called, "PaperPort Printer
Driver.msi". Dbl-click on it and see if the printer driver isn't installed.

On older versions I used to get past the missing printer drivers by
placing a shortcut to the file pptd40nt.exe in the Startup folder, which
is located in the PP program folder. That trick allowed me to print
using the PP driver, as the file would never be loaded on Startup for
some reason.

The scanners may be listed compatible with XP, but version 7 of PP
isn't. The last OS supported for version 7 is W2k. You may have to
upgrade to fully resolve the issue. Version 9 works fine for me, and I
haven't seen any reason to upgrade further.

Let me know if either of those help,

I already tried that. Thanks anyway.

Tried what? I doubt you've tried at least version 9.
