Hi,

Is there a way I can save the items in the Start > Run dropdown list? I hate
having to clickclickclick my way to starting a program and I find it much
more convenient to have the programs or documents I frequently access
available in this list.

The problem is that sometimes, when I'm cleaning up my browser history and
temporary files, this Run list disappears as well. I thought I could get
round this problem by exporting the registry key where these values are kept
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RunMRU)
but I find that even after I reimport these exported registry values back
into my registry, they don't appear in my Start > Run list.

Does anyone have any ideas how I might get round this problem?

Thanks,

Akin

When you clean up,it must be in internet options (delete
cookies/files),however
you must also be clicking "delete history",that clears run list...

Hello Andrew,

So is there no way of saving what is in the Run list so that it can be
restored after deletion?

Akin,

I'm pretty sure when you import them back into the Registry, you have to
reboot the system for them to show up again.

Mine was in a second location in the registry.. perhaps you need to
merge both locations.

Probably needs a reboot as someone else suggested.

For Commands and Paths you find yourself typing there again and
again, put them into shortcuts. For easy access put the shortcuts
in a folder under '%UserProfile%\Start Menu\' or
'%AllUsersProfile%\Start Menu\' or wherever suits you.
