Hello!!

I use XP

I am having difficulty opening pps extension file emails in Outlook
Express..I have downloaded Microsoft Office Power Point and installed
ppviewer.exe..Under file type I see pps therein.
Microsoft Office Power Point 2003 is now on the start menu..I seem to be at
an
impass here as I don't know how to open the pps file in Outlook
Express..When I click the attachment a box says I need to go the Folder
Options in control panel to find an association to this type file..I have
done all that....I
can find OE in the look in box but when I click OE there are no files to
open...Can anyone help?...Thanks...Nick Meale

All OE does is extract the attachment from the email and then ask the system
to open it. This combination of actions (extraction and opening) sometimes
doesn't go as well as simply opening the file. The best practice is to save
the file to a folder on your system (or the Desktop) and then locate the
file and open it. Try that, then report back if you still have problems. To
save attachments in OE, go to File>Save Attachments.

In Folder Options/File Types go to the PPS extension and create a new action
"Open" without quotes with the same parameters as "Show" and set it as
default.
If you don't have PPS in file types create a new file
type...extension:PPS...file type:Microsoft PowerPoint Slide
Show...action/new:Open...application used to perform action:"C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\PowerPoint Viewer\pptview.exe" "%1"(with
quotes)...use DDE...Application:pptview...Topic:system. I think that should
do it. Greg T

Workaround: Save the .PPS attachment to the hard disk and then open it.

Solution:

Unable to open .PPS attachments directly from Outlook Express?:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ppsopen.htm

Unable to open .PPS attachments directly from Windows Mail in Windows Vista:
