Hi, My printer stopped working and when I go through the HP troubleshooting,
after several steps, it calls for checking out the ports by gonig to
system/device manager. But the "Ports" are not even listed as present?!?

I can see my printer on the printer folder, and it prints a test page from
the printer, but the communication from computer to printer is not working.
Any ideas on why the ports don't show up?

This page has some examples.

In the picture here, you can see the four Intel USB logic blocks in
the list. The computer used to prepare this picture, also has a
NEC PCI USB card plugged into it, which is why there are so many
USB entries. You won't have quite this many on your computer.

Another tool for checking USB, is this one. This tool is not
going to help you currently, as for your purposes, the information
in the Device Manager is probably more important for debugging.
But, at some future date, if you are having USB problems, this
tool can help.

UVCView allows viewing USB ports and their configuration information.
