Popup boxes and menu choices now grey instead of white????

Hi,
I have some problems with My Windows XP Pro I installed a few days ago.
It has all updates from the Microsoft update center etc.

1. When I am at the XP main screen when I right click on my mouse the little
popup menu
is now displayed in gray instead of white as it usually is. Also in
programs when I choose options such as file,
edit, view they are in grey also instead of white.
How can I change these right click popup menus and program drop down choices
back to a white background?

Maybe one of these:

Open Display Properties, Appearance tab, Advanced button, scroll down
the "Menu" item and change the background color to white.
