Blankyou need to enable
the option called
"pop up blocker"

if your internet browser
isn't the kind that has a
built in pop up blocker
then you should get one.

Hi,
Both IE7 and IE6 (XP SP2) have a pop-up blocker which works well.

It sounds like you're seeing more than the occasional pop-up and you may
have malware installed.

Hi,
You should install (at least) XP SP2 for the enhanced security. But... you
should clean up the computer *before* installing XP SP2 (and possibly IE7)
It sounds like you're not seeing just the usual website pop-ups, but are
infected with malware.

Work through the steps at The Parasite Fight
http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm including Windows Defender
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx and
the posting of a HijackThis log.
