Are you sure it says "Windows Internet Explorer" and not just "Windows
Explorer" ? I had a problem once on my laptop that when ever I clicked on a
video file my computer would lock up. The problem turned out to be a
conflict of some sort with different video codecs. In my case uninstalling
Ulead's DVD Player solved my problem.

hello amigo and thanks for your fast respond the window to apperaed says
"Windows explorer" and the Ulead program it is thatone this one? "Ulead Dvd
Movie Factor...also I have a Ulead Video studio ....please let me know and
thanks

Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are different programs.

Windows Explorer is what you use to look at and manage the files on your
computer.
Internet Explorer is for viewing web pages etc..

From your description it is Windows Explorer that is crashing. If you go
into event viewer you will probably see the error message logged.

Because Windows Explorer is your file manager, you can't do much without it,
so the when the program stops, your desktop icons and taskbar disappear, but
XP restarts Windows Explorer straight away, so your icons reappear.

If need be you can push ctrl+alt+del to bring up task manager, go to File >
New Task and type explorer if Windows Explorer doesn't start by itself.

Anyway. Do you have thumbnail view enabled for the movie folder?

It sounds like Windows Explorer is trying to draw a thumbnail of the video
files and one of the codecs is causing it to crash. See if you can set the
folder view to something else and if that fixes the problem.

Do you have any problems viewing video files.

The only way to know if the Ulead product is causing problems is to
uninstall it.

Have you checked the Ulead support website for known issues?

Do you have Pinnacle Studio installed?

Honu

CODEC conflicts/ incompatibility or errors within individual video files can
also cause Explorer to crash like that. Make sure the appropriate version
CODECs are the default choice to open video files.

If you haven't got a video editing program that can detect and correct
errors in files, sometimes just setting Explorer's View setting to "List"
will allow you to access the folder without Explorer crashing. At least long
enough to move some files elsewhere in order to find the defective one(s) by
process of elimination.

You will do better to repost this to the IE newsgroups . They have many experts there to help you with this issue.

Meanwhile try the following. Open Manage Add-Ons and disable all Add-Ons for IE. See itf this issue stops. If it does then add back each Add-On one by one until you find the culprit
