Please Advise Regarding Problems With Windows Games

With Solitaire and Free Cell, cards "freeze" on the screen. With Spider
Solitaire, Windows itself freezes, or "locks up," and I have no mouse or
keyboard.
I've installed the latest video drivers from Nvidia. There are no "events"
in the Event Viewer. Dr. Watson finds no "faults."
I have no problems with other Windows functions, or with any applications.
Can anyone suggest a cause--or a "cure"?
I'm very frustrated.

Boot into Safe mode & test
If OK, download http://www.dependencywalker.com/ then run one of the games
through Depends, it should show what file is causing the problem

Thanks for your suggestions. However, the safe mode option is problematic,
since the behaviors I have described are unpredictable.
If it is likely that a Windows file is causing the problems, does it follow
that uninstalling and reinstalling Windows games might be the solution?
