I cannot open attachments sent with emails. I get the message "windows
cannot access the specified device, path, or files. You may not have
the appropiate permissions to access the item." This just started, I
cannot now open attachments I opened in the past. I am running windows
XP and msn.com for an isp. I'm sure this is something simple but I can
not find anyone with an answer. If I am in the wrong place would
someone please direct me as I am new at this...
Thanks much for your help.

Hi Wino,

Can you Save As to another location and open the attachment? Maybe the
problem is the program needed to open the attachment, that the proper
extension is not on the file (letter instead of letter.doc or brochure
instead of brochure.pdf) or the program associated with the extension is
not properly configured.

Check out those possibilities and report back,

Hi Terry R.
Nope, that does not work, get the same message when I try to open
the saved file. I can get the attachments if I go to MSN hotmail. I
tryed MSN support and they could not figure it out and sent me to
windows support, I tried to get thru to them and decided that I would
rather be dragged thru broken glass...

I don't use Hotmail, so I can't test any further. If you're sure your
file associations are correct, someone may come in with an answer.
