Permissions for Administrative alerts

Is it possible to give normal user accounts permissions to send
administrative alerts without placing them into the administrators group ?

I looked all over the group policy editor but couldnt find anything that
would allow me to do that, couldnt find anyhting on a google search either.

If not what would you suggest as good replacement for this functionality
that we can install ? We use it mainly for sending short messages when
people are logged into the server through remote desktop.

from this KB, administrator right are necessary:
How to set up administrative alerts in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;310490&x=7&y=12
Note You must be logged on as an administrator or as a member of the
Administrators group to complete this procedure. If your computer is
connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from
completing this procedure.


The only GPO that make a reference to this is:
USER
Administrative Templates\
Windows Components\
Microsoft Management Console\
Restricted/
Permitted snap-ins Performance Logs and Alerts

But this is allowed by default if the setting is not configured

You may search and tweak permission, but that may take quite a long time. If
you are willing to, you should use process monitor:

Ok, thank you, I was talking about the feature in task manager > "user" tab
> right clicking on a user > "send message".

I belive this is the same as the net send command, however there doesn't
seem to be any permissions settings for this anywhere in the system which is
somewhat strange.

Anyway, thank you for the suggestions.
