Perfmon doesn't monitor

Hi all.
When I run perfmon, the monitor doesn't run. It's like its not monitoring
anything. I just get a red vertical line on the left. Yes, I've checked the
"freeze display" button. Also, When I press "add counters", I can see there
aren't any.
I've checked Performance Logs and Alerts service and appears ok.
In Task Manager, I can see CPU Usage, but perfmon is just stopped.
Any clues?
Tks!

This may happen when the %windir%\System32\perf*.dat files have been
deleted.

Perfmon.exe doesn't appear in the Taskmanager since it starts the
Microsoft Management Console (MMC.exe) only.

I'ce checked that. They are there. Even the ones I've created to debug
different things (disk drive, memory, network etc.)

Tks.

Hummm... Didn't work so far, but I'll keep trying. According to the document,
it does not apply to WinXP and some of the registry keys are not in the same
place.
Again, I'll keep trying.

Tks!

Sorry.
I've misread your message. I thought you were talking about the msc files.
I've also checked the perf*.dat files. I only have 2. That's perfi009.dat
and perfd009.dat. Is this right? (WinXP Pro SP2)
Right now I can't do it, but I'll deflate them from the CD as soon as I get
to the machine and try

Tks a bunch!

Not really. There should be the following files:

perfc007.dat
perfc009.dat
perfd007.dat
perfd009.dat
perfh007.dat
perfh009.dat
perfi007.dat
perfi009.dat

Yes, this should work.
