I have been fighting this problem for some time now. I always leave my pc on.
When I want to get on I just move the mouse or hit a key and everything comes
to life, but every once in a while it does not matter what I do my computer
will not respond. The monitor stays in standby mode and I can't get anything
to work. The only thing I can do is manually turn off my pc and reboot. I
have my display settings to turn the monitor off after 5 minutes. The hard
disk is set to never stop. System standby is set to never and system
hibernates is set to never. I am running Windows XP Home. I have a Pentium 4
2.4GHz processor and 2gig of RAM. Thanks for any help you can give me to
figure this out.

Ensure you have higher or same version dll's as mentioned in

Look in Device Manager at Mouse and Keyboard and USB. If the Power
Management is set to "turn off" to save power, then it is pretty tough
to wake it up if they are off.
