PC refuses to boot from cd

PC refuses to boot from cd. Can confirm it's not a keyboard problem.. because
I am able to enter BIOS setup.. unless in this individual case usb/port
connectivity is an issue. PC recognizes disc is in CD drive, but refuses to
let me press any key during the 5 sec wait.. I've disconnected/reconnected HD
cables, no difference. any suggestions?

I assume you are getting the prompt on the screen about booting from a CD,
correct? Do you have a wireless keyboard? If so, try a regular keyboard
with a ps2 connection.

You need to check if your BIOS supports USB mice and keyboards.
"Legacy" support means PS/2 connected mice and keyboards. While the USB
mouse and USB keyboard will work when the OS is loaded, that is because
drivers have been loaded for them. When you are booting, the OS hasn't
been loaded yet so no USB drivers have been loaded.

Boot to DOS (go to www.bootdisk.com to make a bootable floppy if you
can't make one). Then see if your USB mouse and USB keyboard work at a
DOS prompt. If not, your BIOS doesn't provide USB support for those
devices, and that means you will need to get a PS/2 keyboard (or use an
adapter with your USB keyboard to plug it into a PS/2 port).
