Password Expires Too Soon

Even though I can log in as the Administrator on my home computer, I don't. I
instead log into my individual account. However, the password seems to expire
too frequently for my tastes. Is there a way to control the expiration dates
of passwords so I don't have to change it every 30 or 45 days?

In addition, does XP check previous passwords or am I free to use previously
expired passwords?

Thanks,
Robert
