Hi Martin,
Are you running Windows XP Professional, with IIS installed? If so, read here:

Let your Firewall Program (Norton Internet Security in my case), to "Allow All" for inetinfo.exe and reboot.
An easy way to see if this is potentially your problem is to look for the Status of World Wide Web Publishing Services. If it says "Starting", then you have this problem. After allowing all for "C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\inetinfo.exe" in my Firewall program settings, and rebooting, not only did my Properties Window show up again, but the
system boots much more quickly.

Hi!
Windows XP sp2 (German)
When I right-click any folder or file and then select Properties in
the context menu, it takes extremely long ( > 30 sec) for the
properties dialog to open. (The context menu itself always comes up
instantly.)
This happens approx in 80%-90% -- other times the dialog also comes up
instantly.
I've already tried to shutdown the desktop indexing program but
without avail ... where else could I look for the cause?
thanks!
cheers,
Martin
