System Mechanic 7
Am I the only one who has found a multitude of problems cropping up in the last
week, and problems that don't seem related to this Iolo monstrosity?
I've owned System Mechanic for years, and recently upgraded to Ver. 7. The
'dashboard' appearance was a little cheesy, but it seemed to work not too bad.
Then they provided a major upgrade to this program, which totally changed the
operation and appearance. Then in the last week, there have been 3 more
upgrades. Each time things get worse. The last straw was when I would be
typing (like now) and when I hit the 'e' key, the My Computer window would pop
up. Other keystrokes would start other windows to open that couldn't be closed.
The only resolve was to re-boot and that was a 15 minute ordeal because System
Mechanic had to 'compact' the registry, the hives etc etc all shown on a BSOD
even before the re-boot could complete.
I have just found out about a company called IObit at www.iobit.com with some
(apparently) great free programs. I'm running their SmartDefrag right now and
will install their "Advanced WindowsCare Personal" 100% Freeware program when
defrag is finished.
I haven't found a bad word about them yet, which is a far cry from what's
showing up about Iolo's System Mechanic 7.

Talk about bad press!
