SIGMATEL_HD_ATI_HD_PROBLEM
I have onboard Sigmatel C-Major HD Audio and XP SP2. When I installed the HD
Audio driver that came with my ATI HD 2600XT graphics card, I no longer get
any audio (no sound from speakers at all...not even Windows sounds like
startup and restart .wavs). I tried to run dxdiag, and there are 2 Sound tabs
(one for ATI and one for Sigmatel) but the DirectSound test failed for both
audio sources. I tried uninstalling the ATI HD audio driver but still no
sound. I tried reinstalling the Sigmatel HD Audio driver but still no sound.
I've been trying to resolve this for over 2 weeks now with no success. Is
there anyone that can tell me what the problem is and how to fix it. The
current driver version for my Sigmal C-Major HD Audio Codec is 5.10.0.4991.
The version for the kb835221 ATI Function Driver for HD Audio ATI AA01 is
5.0.40001.9
