OLESVR32.DLL Error on Start-Up

I just ran an update AVG running on a Compaq with Windows XP Profession when it crashed and will now not re-start.
Windows stops with a blue-screen error c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum}, olesvr32.dll could be corrupt, but I am unable to enter command line mode to copy a replacement file or re-install Windows, how can I repair/replace this?
