I have an older PC game that is looking for a wave audio MCI driver. I am
running Windows XP Home Edition. Any thoughts on whether I can find an older
driver, download it, and get it to run without disrupting my current audio
driver?

Thats not possible, an older driver will replace your current driver.
Ensure your current driver is updated from hardware manufacturers site, and
NOT winupdate

That MCI wave audio driver is already installed by default.

No need for an older driver. That old program looks for specific entries
in the Win.ini, System.ini and/or Control.ini system files which are not
present under WinXP.

Try running that program in Compatibility Mode. If this doesn't help
either, you shouldn't run that dinosaur program under WinXP.
