Old windows xp files

I recently updated from Windows XP to Windows 7 and I lost my Realtek HD 7.1 Surround Sound. The setup and drivers for this program are on my Motherboard Utilities Disc for Windows XP that came with my computer, but I am unable to get it to load on Windows 7. The program file is in the 'Old Windows' file that was created when I did the update. My question is: Can I move this program file from the 'Old File' into my Windows 7 program file? If not, any suggestions on how I can get this program back?
