Hi all,
Several things set to run at startup randomly fail. Usually Nod
Antivirus, Comodo Firewall, Ad-watch 2007 or the volume icon. Is there a
registry or other fix for this problem or is it more complex?

I have scanned for viruses & spyware but found nothing.

Look forward to you ideas.
Roy.

Sometimes with all these programs trying to start more or less at the same
time they trip over each other.
I had a similar problem and temporally disabled one of the programs (leaving
the rest as they are), I did this for each program until I found the
culprit. For the one AV utility (which is not any of the ones you mentioned)
that was causing me the problem I started it manually after the other
startup programs had completed loading.

Also a tool to help:
Autoruns from the MS Windows SysInternals site:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx
This will show all apps/etc. that load/run when you first boot and
selectively allow you to stop any that you don't want.

Note: To get additional details on an item in the list you may need to
highlight the item (right click) and use the 'Search Online' option to get
the details, especially useful for the more obscure items in the list.
