Does any one know how to create a boot disk (or boot CD) to image a HD
without starting XP or Vista. In older versions, one was able to create
a boot-disk with ghost32.exe on it and it was possible to image the HD
within 20 to 25 minutes and save the image files on CDs/DVDs.

I have now got version 14 but there isn't a wizard to do this and also I
can't find anywhere how to image the HD. It is all about copy, backup
or recovery CD but I want a complete replica of my HD so that recovery
is easier like in the old versions.

Have you read the manual yet?

If you're running it in the 30 day trial period, you cannot create a recovery
disc.

I have switched to Acronis, a long time ago. Version 10, I believe. It is
extremely simple and reliable. Of course, the recovery CD will boot from
scratch. My 4 GB c: drive takes only 4 minutes to image. I make an image on
the first of the month. Saved my life many times. If you catch a virus, just
replace your whole c: drive with an image.

Acronis says that the install CD itself is bootable and can be used for
recovery purposes, you do not have to make a boot CD.
Maybe Norton does that too.

If True Image was downloaded, rather than purchased in a box, then a
bootable CD must be created using its built in CD creator. That CD
will do most anything the Windows version can do... backup, restore,
clone, whatever.
