None of my desktop apps are connecting to the internet and my apps aswell

I am using a Toshiba satellite that I recently formatted an updated to windows 8 .recently my desktop apps like Utorrent, chrome and any other apps have stopped connecting to the internet also windows apps are asking me to sign in and whenever I try it tells me to connect to the internet please help
