No sound after sleep mode

Here's the problem:

During the past week I've noticed that when I close the lid of my Sony
laptop with Home Premium it goes to sleep. No problem there.

When I open the lid a few minutes later the laptop wakes up from Sleep mode.
No problem there, either. All programs work, except, there is no sound from
the speakers or the headphone jack when I run my video or music files. No
sound from any program including Vista's sounds. Laptop is Sony Vaio. Less
than 8 months old. I did a test on the hardware and driver and the diagnosis
states that my Realtek works. The only way to clear up this problem after
wake up is restart laptop.

I've downloaded the latest sound drivers and I've used System Restore twice.
I've also reset the Power Scheme to its default (factory set). Yes, I have
all the new Vista updates including the latest SP.

Any ideas why I don't get sound after waking up from Sleep mode?

I would try this powercfg command, in spite of not sounding like the right
article for you.

The hybrid sleep feature and the hibernation feature in Windows Vista may
become unavailable after you use the Disk Cleanup Tool :

Thanks for my call to help.

Late last night, I exhausted all of my Vista OS solutions and went to Sony's
website. Sure enough, they suggested that I download a new version of BIOS
for my laptop, which fixes a few issues that were created by SP1. I
downloaded the BIOS and tried the Hibernate and Sleep mode several times
today. (I even put the laptop in Hibernate overnite and it woke up this
morning without a hitch.)
I no longer have the sound problem from Sleep mode. Looks like Sleep and
Hibernate modes are working fine, now. I think that the BIOS download was the
solution.
