Help...
I recently had to replace my motherboard...I did have an Intel P4 845 2.4
GHz, and it was replaced with an ASUS A7V8X-X with an AMD XP 3000 processor.
Since reinstalling XP, my sound is not working. I have tried various
versions of the ASUS sound drivers, and although everything is showing up
that it works, no sound. I have checked all the obvious...right plug, device
enabled, etc. and still nothing.
I have searched other forums, and apparently with this board, you have to
use an old set of drivers to make it work, however I haven't found them. I
have tried all the usual places, and a few versions, but to no avail.
If someone has come across this before, please let me know what I am missing
or where I can get the drivers that will work. Like I said, the currrent
available drivers do not work.
Thanks in advance.

Check or download your manual for this MB here:

1-18, make sure the FP Audio jumpers are set as shown. Had the same trouble
with a used Asus MB.

Thanks for the quick feedback, Woody. Sorry it took so long to answer, but
vacation and stuff.

I checked what you said on the board, and everything was fine according to
the manufacturers manual. I ended up taking it back to the shop that
replaced the card, and they installed a separate sound card, no charge. I
assume that there was a problem with the integrated sound card, and they just
put a new card in.

Thanks again.

Was this motherboard sold to you as "new?" If yes, I personally will
not "accept" the separate sound card solutions since the motherboard
is "defective" or "damaged." You should have a warranty of the
motherboard or the repair. I would now be "worried" on what else does
not work, or will fail, on this motherboard.
