No Media Player 11 on WinXP x64?

I have a plugin on one of my websites that requires Windows Media Player 11
to work.

I recently switched to WinXP x64. When I try to install WMP11, it tells me
1) I am using Windows Server 2003 (not true), and 2) The highest version
available for my OS us WMP10.

Am I to understand that Microsoft isn't even updating WMP (of all products)
to keep up with the 64-bit platforms?

See
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx?displang=en
..You must be trying to install the 32-bit version.

XP x64 is built on the Windows Server 2003 code base so the message you are
seeing is correct.

There is actually a discrete XP x64 (I have the install CD) built out of the
XP codebase, but you are very correct that "XP x64" should generally
contextually refer to Windows Server 2003 x64 Professional. =)
