Hi,

I have an ASUS P4SDX MB in which I installed an Intel 2.8ghz cpu. I have power to the system, all fans run, the MB light is on, but I get no POST or Beeps. I think I may have a faulty MB, but wanted to know if anyone has any insite to Asus MB's. Maybe I missed some jumper, although there aren't any cmos specific jumpers.

Frustrated and Lost,
Roland

First thing to check is the video card. Make sure it is firmly seated. An improperly seated vid card is number one cause for no post.
Second make sure the cpu is not defective. If you have another box you can put it in to test then do that.
Third check that the ram is good. If you have 2 sticks in the board put one in at a time and try to get it to boot. Although if memory is bad you should still get beeps.

Thanks for the reply..

I've removed all the expansion cards and memory, just to see if I can get it to beep.. Still nothing.. I'm going to try to reset the CMOS, not sure if that will help or not.

memory would only be a possibility if he chose to not have the memory checked during post.
i don't see how an improperly seated video card could cause the computer to not go through post.. does it lack contact with the connectors? either way.. i just don't see it. lack of contact would create a short circuit on (at most) the reference voltage, address/data bit- 0, and the port voltage. maybe u could explain.

if you find that the cpu is working correctly.. then look into getting a new mb.. my bet would be on the bios.
