News on the quantum computer?

Anyone heard anything new about the quantum computer? I Was keeping an eye on it ages ago and these days there is no new information about it. Do we recon they have given up?

I think that its more like there hasn't been an advance goundbreaking enough to make news. The level of the tech the last I heard of it was to be able to hardwire basic addition problems with only a few terms. Going from this to a more advanced set of operations is a bit of a challenge. I remember the size of the conceptual leap in a microprocessor design book I once read between a basic ALU and something that can process a series of instructions and track data in registers.

Dont suppose you know who is sort of taking charge with the project so you? I realise that many institutions will probably be working with it but is there one company or institution heading the search?
