I bought one of the new 22 widescreen lcd monitors that I want to run at
1680 x 1050 in proper aspect ratio.

But I can't find how to change the aspect ratio, or tell windows driver
about the new monitor.

Adapter: Radeon 700 / Radeon VE

LCD Monitor Hanns G HG 216

Help!

Thanks so much.

Try R.click the desktop,properties,advanced,display adapter,list all modes,
scroll thru the settings. You can also download color control applet for xp
from microsoft,it gives display settings.

Did you download the latest drivers from ATI for the video card? Also, could
be a possibility the video card is unable to support the monitor's
resolution.

I have some bad news for you: I too recently bought a monitor with 1680
x 1050 resolution (a HP L2045W) and installed it on my ATI Radeon 800
card. The good news - runs great on the VGA cable and at the indicated
size. The bad news - not even the BIOS sees the monitor on the DVI
cable. My solution was a new ATI Radeon x1950 Pro card. Your 700 (my
800) will handle bigger screens than 1680 x 1050 but I don't think they
handle this exact format, at least not on the digital connection.

If you are willing to run with the VGA cable, install the "drivers" that
shipped with your monitor or get them from the manufacturer's web site.
Whether XP will recognize the monitor and all the resolutions that it
supports is a based on a complicated interaction between the BIOS, video
card, and default XP mechanisms. Using the driver (actually just an
ascii capabilities list) removes all the complications.

Right click on the desktop and go to proerties...settings...then adjust the
screen area

If the exact resolution you need is not available,,,go to

Advanced...adaptor and then "list all modes"

I suggest checkeing the actual ATI display settings with DVI cables. Theres a
a drag setting to "Activate" a digital display. I can't remember where it is,
but it's in there somewhere. I ran into this problem on a 21" samsung. Ati
Radeon Mobile
