Hello,

I've installed XP on a compact flash drive (ide2, 4GB) however when I
attempt to load the NIC driver it will not properly acquire a network
address from DHCP server. The NICs port is functioning from a hardware
perspective, but it reports limited or no conenctivity and the IP is
the local private type (e.g. 169.X.X.X).

I know that if I take this exact same hardware (CPU board) and network
connection and boot from an standard hard drive install (XP again) it
works fine (so the only thing that changes is what media type I boot
from).

I've seen some hints within other discussion groups that indicate this
might be normal behavior for XP on a CF install due to legacy
architecture issues and the fact that the CF is seen as removable
storage. Is this true and if so is there some workaround?

Thanks
Brent
