I'm installing an updated application on a Windows 2000 machine that
requires the .net V2 framework. This application tried to automatically
download and install it but apparently got hung up. I tried exiting,
rebooting and downloading the .net V2 redistributable from MS and
installing that and it got hung up as well but I was able to see where
exactly it got stuck, under "Installation Progress" I see this:

Key:
\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide\PatchedComponents,
Name: {63E949F6-03BC-5C40-C01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}, Value:
C:\WINNT\winsxs\Policies\X86_policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_x-ww_...

can anyone make a suggestion about how to overcome this installer hang?
