Hi,

I have Nero OEM 6.6 on my computer. here are the specs of my system:

OS: Windows XP Pro
Motherboard: ASUS P5ND2-SLI
Processor: Intel Pentium D 830 3.0GHz
Hard Drive: 250GB SATA
RAM: 2x 512MB DDR 667MHz
Video Card: ATI Radeon X1300 PRO
Optical Drive: Pioneer DVR-110D DVD-RW
USB: 4x USB 2.0
Sound Card: 7.1 Channel
Ethernet Adapter: Intel 10/100/100 Gigabit

I tried to burn a backup copy of a DVD movie at 12x writing speed. The
burn process completed with no errors, however the computer doesn't
even recognize the copied DVD. I tried playing the disc on a DVD
Player but the player gave a "Cannot read disc error" What am I doing
wrong?

Thanx

If you're trying to make a copy of a store-bought DVD movie, you can't
just copy it (like a CD) and make it work. You need a program to
decrypt and extract the movie files first, such as this one:

DVD Shrink

Is it a copy protected DVD? Is so, you will have to try something else such
as DVDFab Decrypter to remove the protection.

Thanks for all the replies. Anyway, the DVD I was copying was already
a copy, not an original, and that DVD was supposedly copied using
Nero. Anyway, I downloaded a program called CloneDVD and it worked! I
got a fully functional DVD copy and plus, CloneDVD copied with more
quality, and in half the time that Nero took. I guess its just a bug
with nero 6.6. If I have any more problems regarding this problem, ill
post pack.

P.S. I've copied everything with Nero, Data, Music, Linux DVDs. It
just seems to be DVD movies that I cant copy.

I So hate Nero 6.6 Glad you resolved your problem.

To clarify: it is not a bug with Nero. It is a feature of the disk that you
were trying to copy. CloneDVD is able to get around the feature.

There are application that you can download that will make Nero work, such
as DVD Region Free.

Actually I dont think its a problem with copy protection, because I
was making a copy of a copied DVD that originally was burnt using
Nero. Also, I think I might have found CloneDVDs success secret.
CloneDVD automatically burns at 4x while I burned the DVD on Nero on
12x. I dont know if thats the cause but I'm not going to waste any
more DVDs on Nero to find out.

Thanx for all the replies

Symptomatic of burn failures is copying at excessive speed. But, yu don't
care. Why did I bother?

I have found that some brands of blank disks don't burn reliably at their
claimed speed. This has happened with some big name disks as well. Oddly,
I have had no trouble with unbranded disks sold in 100 packs.

One famous name disk (BASF) seemed to burn reliably, but was unreadable just
3 months later.

It may pay you to change your blank disks.
