Just rt. click on the powerpoint attachment in your e/mail and select "open
with"
a selection list will open now navigate until you find powerpoint and select
it, if you see a checkbox that says always use this option then put a check
in it.
Now you have made the association.

That message means that the program which is supposed to open power point
files has not been
entered. In addition to the other posts mentioning the "open with" tab,
you can setup associations
using the folder options tab in the control panel or the same tab in windows
explorer.
The installation of power point is at fault.

I have received several email needing Power Point to read..I installed free
download of Power Point to my hard drive as directed, however I am not able

I have tried right clicking on the attachment, but it wont give me a
dropdown menu to "open with" for some reason.. Still need input? Thanks

Have power point, or whatever equivalent you have, designated to open that
type of file.

To change the program that opens a file

1.. Open My Documents.
If the file you want is not located in My Documents or its subfolders, use
Search to find it. To open Search, click Start, and then click Search.

2.. Right-click the file you want to open in a different program, and then
click Properties.
3.. On the General tab, click Change.
4.. Click the name of the program in which you want the file to open.
Notes

a.. To open My Documents, click Start, and then click My Documents.
b.. This change affects all files that have the same file name extension
as the file you selected. For example, if you change the program that opens
a .jpg file, all .jpg files will open in this program.
c.. You can also change the program that opens a file by right-clicking
the file, clicking Open With, and then clicking the program name. If the
program you want is not displayed, click Browse.

Hi shakey..I did exactly as you stated..but only found the files I had saved
as per prior advice..However I did what you said, and it now opens the saved
files automatically, however it still wont open from an email for some
reason..keeps giving me the no association to open thing as usual..I guess I
can always save the file, then find it and open it that way, but sure wish
the Outlook express would open it without having to go through all the extra
steps to do so..Thanks for the good advice..but still cant open from my
email directly as it should.. and cant get a drop down menu in email from a
right click ... Duke
