I'm running Windows XP Pro SP-3 on a five-year-old Dell XPX Quad. When I try to run the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant, I get an error message saying that it's not a valid Win 32 application, and it just won't run. I've downloaded it several times with the same result. I haven't been able to find any articles or posts by other people with this problem, so I'm at a loss as to how I can find out whether my computer can run Windows 8. Any suggestions or thoughts?
My computer has a 2.6 GHz coprocessor and 3 GB of RAM, among other things, so it appears I should be able to make the switch. But, how do I go about determining that if I can't run the Upgrade Assistant? I've even tried Googling this question, which usually finds just about anything, and can find no reference to this problem. Any help will be appreciated.
